Uganda Invades Bunia
3/3/25
Two weeks ago, Ugandan military invaded Bunia, the city our orphanage is in.
To maintain control, the military is shooting people on sight. It is extremely dangerous to be out on the streets.
Homeless children are especially in danger. Bunia is surrounded and the military has created a chokehold, which is tightening.
Consequently, UFCS has been overwhelmed by children running to the safety of shelter, food and medical care. Some children carried a boy whose legs had been run over and crushed by a military vehicle. Another of our children contracted Meningitis. We brought him to the hospital. He died 2 days ago. We are heartbroken.

Although UFCS has space, we have limited staff, limited food and a limited budget. Consequently, we were forced to close the gates and deny many of the children much needed shelter. Some of our staff cannot get in because of the deadly danger of openly traveling. However, as finances grow, we will be able to purchase more supplies and temporarily hire people who live close by to help care for our kids.

Our need is real and urgent.
One concern is that the banks will close or curtail their hours and limit the amount of cash that people can withdraw. This is common during war. Our bank, thankfully has good security for now. But, cash flow can dwindle quickly.

Please share this with others. When it cones helping orphans in war torn towns in 3rd world countries, the saying "Every little bit helps" is true.

It's alarming that major American news sources are not talking about what's happening in Bunia, DRC. However, there are many smaller, international news sources explaining what's happening.
